Sacrifices

Tonight we were talking about the approaching Lenten season. We have been talking about this in our family for a few days. Tonight I informed the girls that I will be giving up eating out at restaurants during Lent, and that we will be planning special family time together each day, to play games, read books, do crafts, etc.

I asked the girls what they wanted to give up for Lent.

Camryn - I think I could give up wearing socks.

Cailyn - I will give up thisride.

Me - Camryn, I bet your feet will get cold.

Cailyn - I will give up thisride.

Me - Cailyn, what are you giving up?

Cailyn - I will give up thisride.

Me - This ride?

Cailyn - No. I will give up thisride.

Camryn - I know! I will give up candy

Me - Camryn, that is a great idea!

Cailyn - I will give up THISRIDE!

Me - Cailyn, I don't understand what you are saying.

Cailyn - You know, the thing I go down. THISRIDE!

Me - The slide?

Cailyn - Yes, I will give up thisride!

Can I take your order?

Cailyn: Mom, what do you want to eat (pretending to take my order)?

Me: Spaghetti.

Cailyn: You'll have pizza.

Cailyn: Camryn, what do you want to eat?

Camryn: Your face.

Cailyn: You'll have pizza.

Cailyn: Dad, what do you want to eat?

Jeff: I'm not hungry.

Cailyn: My face?

Jeff: Sure, I'll have your face.

Cailyn: You'll have pizza.
