*sigh*

Yesterday, Camryn said to me "Mom, I have something I want to tell you. I have been thinking about it for a long time, and I don't know how to tell you, *pause* so I'm just going to say it. I don't know what teenager is going to date me when I am a teenager!"

I thought we named her...

I thought Jeff and I named our daughter Cailyn.

Apparently I was wrong.

Cailyn asks people to call her specific names. It all started with that Dinah episode. And then there was babycakes. And the list has grown.

The current list:
Mom - Babycakes
Auntie Shannon - Buttercup
Grandma Mary - Honey Bunch
Grandma Kelli - Sweety Pie
Andy - Dinah
Nancy - Pink and Purple
Travis - Dinosaur

4th of July she wanted most people to call her Bubba or Hippy, unless you already had a specific name for her.

Auntie Carrie heard she had all of those names, and asked her what she could call her. Cailyn thought for a moment. Carrie said "What do you like?" Cailyn answered "Pineapple?" Carrie laughed and said "What else do you like? What should I call you?" Cailyn put her pointer finger on her chin and thought for another moment, then said "Ol' Pizza Place!?!?" It stuck.

Auntie Carrie - Ol' Pizza Place

And the strange thing is, she can keep them all straight. If anyone calls her the wrong name, she corrects them. If I ever call her Cailyn, she says "No, you call me babycakes!"

Innocence

There was a terrible wreck by our house today. We had watched about 10 emergency response vehicles drive up our quiet road, and saw a sheriff's car park at the end of our driveway. We still didn't know what had happened, so Camryn, Cailyn and I walked down to see what was going on. We stayed back quite aways for two reasons. First, I didn't want to interupt the work that was being done by the responders, and second, I didn't want my girls to see anything too scary.

As we walked to the end of the driveway, Camryn was worried if people were hurt. I told her that in times like this, it was our job to pray for everyone involved. We got to the end of the driveway, and could see that people were being loaded into a couple of ambulances.

Camryn bowed her head, and prayed aloud, "Dear God, please help the people not be hurt, and if they are hurt, help them get better, and help them not die, and if they did die, please bring them back to life." So innocent, and yet so aware.

She then asked me to pray, but I didn't know how to say it any better than she already had.

Who knew going to the bathroom could be so exciting?!?!

In the last few days, I have discovered that if Cailyn is naked from the waist down, she lets us know when she has to go potty. She has gone potty on the toilet 6 times this weekend, and pooped on the toilet for the first time about an hour ago! She is pretty excited, and I'm pretty stoked at the thought of not having to buy diapers anymore!

The downside is, if she has underwear on, she feels like she has a diaper on, and just goes. This may make going out in public a challenge! :) I don't think people at Target would be very happy with my daughter's naked bottom hanging out for the world to see.

Some of my favorite Cailyn sayings

When Cailyn is in the bath, we will ask her to shut off the water. She replied "You do it? I not can shut off water. I have scrubby hands."

Whenever Cailyn has a hanging fingernail, she asks for the fingernail clippers because she has a "fingertail".

Quote by Camryn

"You can not ground me for the rest of my life. Pretty soon I am going to have a baby and make my own rules." -Camryn, 5
